Why Rate Reviews Matter
Payment costs can change over time, and the agreement that suited your business when you signed up may not always remain the best fit. A regular rate review helps you understand what you are currently paying and whether your charges still reflect the way your business operates today.
Check your true processing costs
Headline rates do not always show the full amount you are paying across debit, credit and business cards.
Terminal rental and monthly charges
Equipment rental, minimum monthly fees and service charges can change and add up over time.
Optimisation and business growth
If your turnover, card mix or transaction volume has changed, your current pricing may no longer be the right fit.
Spot additional or hidden fees
Authorisation fees, statement fees and other extras can increase the real cost of the account.
Identify PCI compliance fees
Some merchants may be paying PCI-related charges or penalties that are worth reviewing.
A Complete Review of Your Set Up
Rates are only one part of the picture. We can also look at the key areas of your payment and EPOS setup to make sure they are working effectively together and still suit the needs of your business.
The aim is to optimise the whole setup — not just one part of it.
FAQ
What do you need from me to review my rates?
A recent merchant statement is usually the best place to start. It helps us see your current rates, charges and overall payment costs so we can review them properly.
What information can you see from a merchant statement?
We can use it to understand your current processing rates, transaction charges, terminal costs, PCI-related fees and other charges that may affect what you are paying overall.
Can you review my payment and EPOS setup together?
Yes. We can look at both as part of the same review, so you get a clearer picture of how your rates, payments and EPOS setup work together and whether anything could be improved.
Is it safe to send a merchant statement?
Yes, provided it is sent through a secure channel and handled confidentially. A typical monthly acquirer statement usually shows information such as your merchant name, merchant ID, card turnover, transaction volumes, processing rates, terminal charges, PCI fees and other account charges. It should not normally contain full customer card details. If a statement shows sensitive banking information, account numbers or anything you are uncomfortable sharing, you can redact those details before sending it.
Am I obligated to change provider or system?
No. There is no obligation to make any changes. The review is there to help you understand your current setup and whether there is anything worth improving.
What if my current setup is already optimal?
Then we will tell you. If your rates, EPOS and overall setup are already working well for your business, there may be no reason to change anything.
